(This breed has been viewed 11949 times)

This breed of dog with the long name hails from France. The Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen is a somewhat smaller breed of dog, with an average shoulder height of only thirteen to fifteen inches. The Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen's coat is a tousled and rough mass of hair, which requires a weekly brushing schedule, and also an overall tidying up of straggling hairs from time to time. Their colors are mainly white, but can have a widely varied combination of orange, lemon, grizzle, or even tricolor markings.

The Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen breed, despite its general appearance, tends to be quite like a terrier in it's temperament. It is an extremely inquisitive dog, which is busy and tough, and is constantly on the lookout for new opportunities to explore, trail, and dig holes. This dog can also be very stubborn and independent, which makes consistency an important part of it's training. Despite it's stubbornness, these dogs are friendly toward strangers and other dogs, and get along well with children and other household pets. Their exercise requirements are easily met by a good long walk or a simple romp in the yard.
