The Dandie Dinmont Terrier is a tiny, high spirited breed which originates from Scotland, and is widely known for the extreme devotion it shows to it's family. Being such a congenial little chap, the Dandie Dinmont Terrier is friendly towards strangers, gets along easily with other dogs and family pets, and plays well with children. Although the Dandie Dinmont Terrier can show a stubborn streak, it should not prove too difficult to train. They do not require a lot of exercise, and quite easily adapt to the family's activity level.

The Dandie Dinmont Terrier weighs only 15.5 to 24 pounds, and stand at a mere shoulder height of nine inches (23 cm). Their coat consists of two layers, a top layer and an undercoat. The undercoat is comprised of soft fur, while the top coat is relatively harder. The color of the Dandie Dinmont Terrier ranges anywhere from silver grey to near black, or pale beige to reddish brown. Their coats require a regular brushing regimen, and they should be taken to a dog grooming professional at least once every year to have any dead hair plucked out by hand.
